The reopening was originally slated for Sept. 5, putting WMATA three days ahead of schedule.
The stations beyond Mount Vernon Square, including the College Park station, will continue only receiving service from the Green Line.
The 44 day shutdown will span five stations, from Fort Totten to Greenbelt.
WMATA stated only 40 trains will be in service starting Monday, allowing for basic operations on all lines. Trains will depart about every 30 minutes.
The proposal follows a study that addressed issues of capacity, reliability, sustainability and equity on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines.
The Greenbelt, Prince George’s Plaza and West Hyattsville stations will also be closed through Sept. 6.
Prince George’s County, Metro Transit and University of Maryland police all responded to the incident.
