The University Senate voted on Thursday to discontinue the Science, Technology and Society certificate.
The visit came on the eve of the Senate’s vote on the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill.
Schmidt, a professor in UMD's mechanical engineering department, died March 12. She was 62.
The team was selected out of nearly 400 applicants, and will be going up against 11 other groups in the competition.
The Senate also approved a new concentration for the master of public health program.
Jeanette Epps will embark on a six-month mission, expected to launch in 2021.
Laurie Locascio, UMD's vice president for research, will head the group.
“We are just trying to do what we can to help."
He should prioritize getting more money from the state government, and making shared governance a reality.
