UMD's withdrawal extension is not an adequate substitute for a pass/fail system.
The decision comes amid an “alarming” spike in COVID-19 cases in the state and county.
Instructors have been advised to be flexible and avoid scheduling exams on Nov. 3.
This semester, students who do have in-person classes wear masks at all time and sit distanced from their classmates.
This fall, 92 percent of UMD's undergraduate course sections will be at least partially online.
Classes with more than 50 students will be online.
The degree program is housed under the Jewish Studies department.
