Chang said her main objective this year is to learn about the culture surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion at this university.
Oliveira began the position this summer after the university’s diversity, equity and inclusion office conducted a yearlong search for a new director. The center’s former acting director, Shige Sakurai, resigned in 2022.
The person selected for the position will report to Georgina Dodge, the university’s diversity and inclusion vice president.
Lauren Evens is one of two finalists for the position.
In 2019, the university’s diversity and inclusion vice president announced she would be looking to fill the position.
Community members have openly opposed the new regulations.
Neijma Celestine-Donnor left the position July 31.
The Nyumburu Cultural Center and Black Faculty and Staff Association led the event.
