Council members Krystal Oriadha, Wala Blegay and Wanika Fisher all said their positions on the council reflect growing inclusion of immigrants in the community.
The bill, initially presented to the council in September, would require businesses with at least 20 shopping carts to institute anti-theft measures on their carts.
The bill establishes that cannabis dispensaries must be at least 1,000 feet away from other dispensaries and at least 2,000 feet away from liquor stores.
Together, Wanika Fisher and Aruna Miller hope to inspire a new generation of South Asian leaders to increase political involvement for the historically underrepresented community.
