A three-alarm fire tore through the Wynfield Park apartments in College Park Monday morning.

The blaze left two residents injured and displaced between 50 and 60 others, according to the Prince George’s County fire department. Both of the residents had non-life threatening injuries, Prince George’s County fire department spokesperson Alan Doubleday said.

The Prince George’s County fire department responded to calls for the fire in the three-story apartment complex on Baltimore Avenue at 8:05 a.m. on Monday. The complex is across the street from the College Park Ikea.

Doubleday said the “well-advanced fire” had progressed from the first floor through the roof upon the department’s arrival. About 150 firefighters extinguished the flames in just over an hour.

The county fire department received mutual aid from the Montgomery County and Howard County fire departments, Doubleday said.

Monday’s fire affected 37 apartment units, according to the county fire department. The American Red Cross is relocating affected tenants.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
