On Wednesday night, Kevin Huerter became the latest former Terp to play in the NBA.

Suiting up for the Atlanta Hawks for the first time in his career, the 19th pick in the 2018 NBA draft grabbed three rebounds while failing to score as the Hawks lost to the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

Huerter’s only playing time came during garbage time, with the Knicks holding a comfortable lead over Hawks late in the fourth quarter. Huerter racked up four minutes and 35 seconds of playing time, which paled in comparison to fellow rookie Trae Young, who spent over 33 minutes on the court.

Huerter’s three rebounds were the only stats he picked up besides an 0-for-1 on field goal attempts, as he had a layup blocked. You can see one of Huerter’s rebounds below.

It’s fair to say Huerter probably would’ve wanted a debut that included him scoring at least one point and playing in meaningful minutes, but it’s still a great accomplishment to play in the NBA regardless of the points you manage to score in your debut.

Based on the Wednesday’s game, it looks like Huerter isn’t currently in the rotation for Atlanta, but there’s 81 more games this season for him to prove he deserves to play outside of garbage time. We’re also confident he will score at least one point in a game this season.
