It was a scary scene at Maryland football practice Thursday morning, as senior defensive back Denzel Conyers was carted off the field after suffering an undisclosed injury. He was taken in an ambulance to a Baltimore hospital.

A team statement offered some words of encouragement about the status of Conyers a few hours later.

“He was taken to a hospital and is stable and alert. To be cautious, he’s getting further tests done.”

Conyers is a 6-foot-3, 212-pound defensive back from St. Petersburg, Florida. After not seeing action in 2014, Conyers made 15 tackles in nine appearances last year.
