The University of Maryland’s chapter of United Students Against Sweatshops Friday held a rally on McKeldin Mall to advocate for a $22.65 per hour minimum wage for this university’s employees.
If approved by the Board of Regents, the esports studio will join the North Campus Market — which is now set to open in fall 2023 — at the former dining hall.
The contract between the University of Maryland and Panera Bread company has been signed as of January, but health and safety permits are not ready for approval.
After successfully fighting to make the minimum wage for employees at this university $15 per hour, USAS has moved its focus to advocating for an increase to $22.65 per hour.
