Three Republicans are running to become their party’s nominee for Prince George’s County Executive in a special primary election on March 4.
The special election comes after former county executive Angela Alsobrooks, a Democrat, resigned from the position in December after winning her U.S. Senate race in November. Tara Jackson, who was previously the county’s chief administrative officer, serves as the acting county executive.
Early voting will take place from Feb. 26 to March 3.
Here’s a look at the three Republicans running for the county executive seat. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by their last name.

McDermott’s main issues during his previous campaign related to laws which he said state that the United States is a federal corporation and not a government, according to his website from that campaign.
He believes that federal and state governments are “wholly controlled now by members of the American Bar Association,” according to the website.
McDermott did not respond to a request for an interview from The Diamondback.
Jesse A. Peed
Peed is a U.S. Army veteran and the owner of a small pool service company in Upper Marlboro, according to his campaign website.
If elected, Peed plans to protect civil liberties, strengthen the county’s education system, reduce regulations for small businesses and fight corruption through independent oversight bodies, according to his website.
“As a husband, father, and small business owner born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, I have a vested interest in the challenges we face in our day to day lives,” Peed wrote on his website. “I will work for a return of a responsible government that serves the people.”
