The University of Maryland will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday due to forecasted inclement weather, according to a university alert Monday night.
College Park is under a Winter Storm Warning from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to The Weather Channel. About 3 to 6 inches of snow are expected in the immediate Washington, D.C., area.

This university’s Department of Transportation Services advised parking permit holders to move their vehicles to parking garages to help the snow clearing process, according to a Monday night email to permit holders.
Starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, anyone can park in a campus parking garage, regardless of whether they have a permit, according to the email. Payment will not be required for visitor parking inside garages, the email said. DOTS said people should not park on the roof of garages.
Parking restrictions will resume at 7 a.m. Wednesday or when the university reopens, the email said.

In-person classes after 2 p.m. Tuesday are canceled, but instructors can still provide asynchronous instruction, according to this university’s website.
Students are expected to attend class during any period this university is open, according to this university’s inclement weather website.
The university alert encouraged campus community members to avoid traveling through the center of campus in order to minimize traffic.
Dining halls will operate on an abbreviated schedule Tuesday, according to this university’s Dining Services website. Under Dining Services’ minimum schedule, Yahentamitsi Dining Hall, South Campus Dining Hall and 251 North will close at 7 p.m., the website read.
South Campus Market and North Campus Market will remain open until 5 p.m., and all other dining locations will close at 2 p.m. Dining Services may be able to open for more hours than their minimum schedule, according to the website.
