Alsobrooks has won the race for Maryland’s open U.S. Senate seat, according to the Associated Press. She has more than 54 percent of the vote.

The lifelong Prince Georgian currently holds a commanding lead in Prince George’s County with nearly 85 percent of the vote. Alsobrooks also leads Hogan by more than 38 percentage points in Montgomery County, the state’s most populous county.

Votes are beginning to trickle in throughout the state. Hogan currently holds a more than 9,000-vote lead with 1 percent of the vote counted, according to the Associated Press.

Less than 1,500 votes have been counted in Montgomery County and ballots have not yet been counted in Prince George’s County — the state’s two most populous counties.
