Subway opened in a new location in Stamp Student Union’s food court Monday, according to University of Maryland Dining Services spokesperson, Bart Hipple.
Subway, which was previously in TerpZone, relocated to replace Saladworks in the food court.
Hipple said Subway held a trial last Friday to test equipment before opening Monday. Dining Services staff had concerns about an oven in the kitchen before Friday, but the trial run went well, according to Hipple.
Some students at this university said Subway’s new location is more convenient and accessible, since it is closer to other restaurants in Stamp.

Nettie Randall, who went to Subway on Tuesday, said she is “ecstatic” about Subway’s new location as she no longer has to go downstairs to TerpZone.
“It’s in my face as an option because when you come in Stamp, you just kind of look at what’s around,” the junior public health science major said. “I usually just never go to Subway because it feels like an inconvenience.”
Melvia Debrah, a junior public health science major who also went to Subway on Tuesday, said that she would go to Subway more often now that it is in the food court. Debrah only went to Subway once in three years when it was in TerpZone, she said.
Debrah said the Subway could create more traffic in the food court, especially during lunch time and rush hours.
Subway was busy on Tuesday, Debrah said, and the new location may affect the number of available seats in the food court.
Chick-fil-A is also expected to move into Roy Rogers’ former location in Stamp, The Diamondback previously reported.
