Since March 2020, the Community Learning Garden has donated 2,811 lbs of produce valued at almost $17,982 to the UMD Campus Pantry.

The UMD Campus Pantry, located in the lower level of the South Campus Dining Hall, feeds anyone on campus for free.

“It’s an amazing feeling, especially when you grow things from seed to a full plant, and then harvest it and donate it,” lead Community Learning Garden intern Archi Singh said, “That’s an amazing process to be a part of.”

Multimedia reporter Amelia Jarecke joined the gardeners as they tended to crops and transported them to the pantry, and learned about the sustainable watering practice that keeps the garden growing.
