Police say a male with a silver handgun attempted to rob a student at about 3 a.m. Friday about a half mile from Courtyards.
The student told police he was walking along the 3700 block of Metzerott Road near University Boulevard when a male with short gray hair wearing a black shirt approached him and demanded property, according to a UMD alert.
A police spokesperson said no property was taken.
The student described the suspect as about 5’8” or 5’10” and between 40 and 50 years old, the alert read.
The suspect was last seen walking away from campus toward Riggs Road. Officers did not locate the suspect.
Police also responded to a reported armed robbery Thursday night on the 7500 block of Girard Avenue near campus.
