As the Republican governor of a blue state, Gov. Larry Hogan Jr.’s presidential endorsement has been in the spotlight as of late. Early on, he made it clear he would not be voting for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
During a visit to Prince George’s County in June, Hogan said his mind wasn’t fully made up, but he was unhappy with the options on both sides.
“I guess when I get behind the curtain I’ll have to figure it out,” he said. “Maybe write someone in. I’m not sure.”
On Election Day, Hogan finally revealed the write-in he alluded to: his father.
A Hogan spokesman said the governor voted early for the man “who taught him what it meant to hold public office with integrity.”
Hogan was elected in 2014 as Maryland’s second Republican governor since 1969, and has generally been popular with members of both parties during his term.
