A female pedestrian, who is a student at the university, was struck by a motor vehicle Monday night, officials said.

The accident was called in at about 9:43 p.m. and occurred at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Paint Branch Parkway, University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said.

Hoaas said the pedestrian was headed north, crossing the crosswalk at the Paint Branch Parkway. The vehicle was also going north on Route 1 and was making a right turn onto the Paint Branch Parkway when it struck the victim. The vehicle had a green light when making the turn, Hoaas said.

No transports were made from the scene and the pedestrian refused transport, Hoaas said.

The driver of the vehicle is not affiliated with this university, and no citations were issued, Hoaas said.

This is the second pedestrian to be struck by a car on Route 1 in two days. A woman suffered nonlife-threatening injuries after a car struck her on a crosswalk at the intersection of Route 1 and Knox Road on Sunday afternoon.
