The Terrapins men’s basketball team looked pretty bad in its 70-57 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. But just how bad were the Terps? Here are five numbers that illustrate the team’s futility against the Badgers:

57

The percentage of free throws Maryland converted on the day, good for the team’s worst mark of the season from the stripe. The Terps missed nine free throws, which really hurt them when the game was still within reach. Melo Trimble was 8-for-10 from the line, but the rest of the team combined to go 4-for-11. That’s not going to win you many games.

1-of–14

Melo Trimble’s line from the field, good for 7 percent shooting. His only game worse than that was his 0-for-1 performance against Rutgers.

29-7

That’s the run Wisconsin went on to close the first half. Maryland couldn’t make shots or defend during this period, which proved fatal.

20

The number of second-chance points Wisconsin converted, while Maryland only had four. Offensive rebounding has hurt the Terps all season, and this game was no different. The Badgers held a 40-30 advantage in total rebounds, and their 13 offensive boards were the third-most Maryland has allowed this season.

The number of consecutive wins the Terps now have at Xfinity Center. Maryland entered Saturday’s matchup with a 27-game home win streak, and the program had not lost at home since joining the Big Ten. The streak had to end eventually, and the Terps played poorly enough to let that happen.
