Maryland basketball added Class of 2018 wing recruit Aaron Wiggins, the No. 43 player in his class nationwide according to 247sports, on Saturday.

After an official visit with the program this weekend, the High Point, North Carolina, native became coach Mark Turgeon’s first 2018 commitment.

The 6-foot-6 wing opted to play at Maryland over offers from Virginia, Florida and Kansas, among others.

Wiggins has the ability to play as a guard or a forward. When he arrives, he’ll join a cast without senior Jared Nickens and potentially Justin Jackson, who considered entering the 2017 NBA Draft last month. He will likely also compete for time with sophomore shooting guard Kevin Huerter.

Wiggins transferred to Wesleyan Christian Academy before this season and was coached by former Terps player Keith Gatlin. The change helped put him on the radar of many Division I programs, but Turgeon was the second Power Five coach to offer Wiggins a spot in September, following Arizona.
