Former Maryland men’s basketball player Cliff Tucker died on Monday morning in a car accident at the age of 29.

Tucker played in 131 games under coach Gary Williams from 2007-2011, which ranks 12th in program history. He averaged a career-high 9.6 points per game in his senior year. Tucker also sits in 14th place for the best career three-point percentage in school history, having made 35.2 percent of his 227 career attempts. Tucker secured his place in Maryland basketball history after his three-point buzzer beater against Georgia Tech in 2010.
The Terps went on to share the regular season ACC title with Duke that year and it remains their last regular season conference title to date. Greivis Vasquez, a teammate of Tucker at Maryland, took to Twitter to express his condolences.

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, a former Maryland student and noted Terps fan, also offered his heartfelt words to Tucker and his family in a tweet.
