Under a significantly revised list by the Department of Justice, Baltimore County is the only Maryland community still identified as a sanctuary jurisdiction.
The redevelopment plan is expected to bring 6,000 new housing units to the site surrounding the stadium and bring $26.6 billion in redevelopment tax revenue.
Maryland, eight of its counties and 10 cities, including Annapolis and Baltimore, were listed as sanctuary jurisdictions. Hyattsville and Greenbelt were also listed.
The rally came amid negotiations between the Prince George’s County Educators Association and Prince George’s County Public Schools for a new contract.
Acting County Executive Tara Jackson said the county will continue its plans to redevelop the area around Northwest Stadium through the Blue Line Corridor project.
