This deal comes two weeks after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the nation would begin to “aggressively revoke” the visas of Chinese students.
Nearly 5,000 students at this university have student visas. Eighty-four percent of these students have an F-1 visa, which grants international people a temporary stay in the U.S. to attend an accredited academic institution.
The lawsuit comes after colleges across the country have reported that international students have had their legal status unexpectedly terminated. Some University of Maryland international students have had their visas revoked.
This university’s International Students and Scholars Services office is communicating with impacted people to give specific information about their situations.
The resolutions call on this university to change the fee structure for Maryland English Institute courses and to abolish the $125 per semester international student fee.
