Ayedze has established himself as a stalwart along the Terps' offensive line, just years after picking up football at Germantown's Northwest High School.
The Terps went winless in conference play for the first time since joining the Big Ten and look set to end their 22-year streak of consecutive NCAA tournaments.
The Terps feel they have a deeper bench than in previous season, which will allow Frese to experiment with lineups until she finds the right combination.
Last year, the Terps showed they could compete with Big Ten foes near the bottom of the standings. This season, the goal is to close the gap between them and the top.
