Oliveira began the position this summer after the university’s diversity, equity and inclusion office conducted a yearlong search for a new director. The center’s former acting director, Shige Sakurai, resigned in 2022.
These incidents are among several other anti-Black racism incidents that have recently been reported to the university’s diversity and inclusion office.
