Composite four-star forward Adama Tambedou has committed to Maryland men’s basketball, marking coach Buzz Williams’ second commit in the 2026 class.

Tambedou attends Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound senior is the No. 2 player in Connecticut, No. 19 power forward and No. 108 prospect nationally, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

He visited College Park on Sept. 5 as his first official collegiate visit. Tambedou visited Texas State a week later, but narrowed recruitment to Maryland and Iowa State before choosing the Terps.

Tambedou is a paint presence — he averaged 10.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in his most recent AAU season — making him a seamless fit for Williams’ style. The Springfield, Massachusetts native also led Pro16, Puma’s AAU circuit, in dunks with 33 in 14 games.

He joins three-star forward Austin Brown as the second member of Maryland’s 2026 class. But the Terps are hoping Tambedou isn’t their final commit from Connecticut.

Maryland made the top seven schools for four-star forward Abdou Toure, the No. 1 player in the state and No. 33 player nationally. Toure would be Maryland’s highest-ranked recruit in 2026.
