Brenda Frese recruits quickly. On Sept. 14, four-star forward Mimi Thiero visited College Park with Maryland women’s basketball. She verbally committed to Maryland three days later through an X post.

The ESPN top-35 prospect is a Pennsylvania native from Quaker Valley High School joining the Terps’ 2026 class. The 6’4 forward is known for her dunks.

Last season, Thiero earned all-section and all-state honors, averaging 23.1 points and 16.7 rebounds a game. She had several options for her collegiate career, receiving offers from more than 50 schools entering her senior year.

Basketball excellence runs in the family, as her older brother Adou Thiero played at Kentucky and Arkansas before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers as the No.36 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Thiero joins five-star forward Jordyn Jackson in the Terps’ 2026 class. With two commits, Frese currently has four open spots for the 2026-27 campaign.
