Maryland football’s 2026 recruiting class grew to 12 players over the summer after the program added to the trenches and snagged its first wide receiver.

Men’s basketball also stayed busy, targeting one of the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area’s premier prospects in the coming years, while women’s basketball added a local five-star.

Commitments

Jordyn Jackson, 2026, small forward, Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.)

Maryland women’s basketball’s first commit of the 2026 cycle marks a massive recruiting win for the program. Jackson, a composite five-star and the No. 16 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite rankings, committed on Aug. 9.

Jackson chose Maryland over South Carolina, TCU, UCLA and Ohio State, among others.

“I chose Maryland because I believe coach [Brenda] Frese and the program will help me fulfill my long-term and short-term goals — like winning a national championship and freshman of the year,” Jackson told ESPN.

She’s the Terps’ second composite five-star recruit after they landed guard Rainey Welson last year. Jackson announced on July 15 that she is transferring to St. James Academy for her senior year.

Jayden Kitchens, 2026, wide receiver, The St. James (Springfield, Virginia)

Kitchens, a three-star prospect ranked No. 25 in Virginia and No. 843 nationally, committed to Maryland on July 16 after an official visit on June 20.

He previously attended Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro where he ran track and competed in high jump.

The 6-foot-2.5, 190-pound player is currently the Terps’ only wide receiver commit in the class of 2026.

Jesse Moody, 2026, offensive tackle, Imhotep Institute (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Moody, a three-star recruit, committed to Maryland on July 5, becoming the program’s first offensive tackle commit in next year’s class. He took an official visit to College Park on June 13, a week after he visited Rutgers.

He chose the Terps over the Scarlet Knights after narrowing his list to those two schools.

Day’jon Moore, 2026, interior offensive line, Willis (Willis, Texas)

Moore flipped his commitment from Pittsburgh to Maryland on July 4 after committing to play for the Panthers on June 15.

The Texan is a composite four-star prospect ranked No. 39 in the state. He was Maryland’s first offensive line commit in the 2026 cycleand also held offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Baylor, Nebraska and others.

Reese Alston, 2027, point guard, Second Baptist (Houston, Texas)

The Terps offered Alston on June 28, bringing his list to 23 offers. Alston, son of former NBA player Rafer Alston,is a four-star prospect nearing composite five-star status, as he ranks No. 29 nationally in the class of 2027.

The junior has also received offers from Houston, Purdue, Illinois and Texas.

King Bacot, 2029, guard, Petersburg (Petersburg, Virginia)

Maryland offered Bacot, the younger brother of former University of North Carolina star Armando Bacot, on June 23.

Though he’s only entering his freshman year, Bacot has received multiple Division I offers and garnered significant interestas one of the elite prospects in the class of 2029.

Visits

Baba Oladotun, 2026, small forward, James Hubert Blake (Silver Spring, Maryland)

The in-state five-star has an official visit to College Park scheduled for Sept. 13.

Oladotun reclassified from the class of 2027 — in which he was ranked No. 1 nationally — to the class of 2026 on Aug. 7. The 6-foot-10 forward is now ranked No. 10 nationally, and remains the No. 1 player in Maryland, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As the rankings stand, Oladotun would be Maryland’s second-highest-ranked recruit in program history, slightly behind center Diamond Stone, who the Terps landed in 2015.

Trey Beamer, 2026, point guard, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida)

Beamer, a four-star prospect ranked No. 86 nationally, also scheduled a visit to Maryland for Sept. 13, marking that Saturday as a crucial recruiting date for the Terps.

The guard visited Boston College on Aug. 30 and has a visit to Mississippi State slated for Oct. 3. In August, Beamer announced he was down to five schools: Mississippi State, Boston College, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

Ari Peterson, 2028, small forward, Minnetonka (Minnetonka, Minnesota)

Peterson, a top-20 player in the class of 2028, will take an unofficial visit to College Park on Sept. 26, 247Sports reported Thursday. She also has visits to Ohio State and Minnesota scheduled for October.

Peterson is the daughter of former NFL superstar Adrian Peterson.
