The University of Maryland has restored power to all public buildings after a campuswide outage earlier Friday afternoon.
The university announced that the power outage had been resolved through a UMD Alert Friday evening.

Power has been restored to all public locations, this university announced in a campuswide alert just after 8 p.m.
Buildings had been without power since earlier Friday afternoon. McKeldin Library is still closed, and will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m., according to signs posted on the exterior of the building.

The university is working to restore power in a phased approach throughout the afternoon and early evening, according to the latest alert. Crews have identified the power outage’s source and are isolating the situation.
McKeldin Library is closed from the power outage, according to signs posted at its entrance. The library will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m., the signs read.

Facilities Management staff is assessing the situation, the alert said, and crews are being dispatched to help people stuck in elevators.
Campus dining halls and the University Health Center are only providing limited services.
The power went out as the university’s annual FreeFest took place on McKeldin Mall.
