Composite four-star forward Austin Brown has committed to Maryland men’s basketball, marking Buzz Williams’ first addition in the class of 2026.

The 6-foot-7, 185-pounder attends Lufkin High School in Lufkin, Texas. Brown is the No. 12 ranked prospect in Texas, No. 51 small forward and No. 142 prospect nationally, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Brown officially visited College Park on June 23, but took his first college visit to Texas A&M Jan. 11, when Williams was still the Aggies’ coach.

Maryland rarely lands recruits from Texas, with its most recent commitment dating back more than a decade. Williams and his staff’s connections may change that.

Billy White III, a four-star forward from Veterans Memorial High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, has an official visit to Maryland planned for Oct. 18.
