Three Maryland women’s basketball players earned 2024-25 All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Tuesday

Shyanne Sellers and Kaylene Smikle were named to the All-Big Ten First Team by the media. Bri McDaniel earned a honorable mention selection from the media, despite suffering a season-ending ACL tear on Jan. 14 against Minnesota.

Both coaches and media named Sellers to the first team. It’s her third consecutive season earning First Team honors from the media. She also won the Big Ten’s Sixth Player of the Year award as a freshman.

The Ohio native is the first player in program history to notch 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in her career. She averaged 14.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists a game this season after being named a Preseason All-Big Ten honoree.

The senior guard also scored more than 20 points in each of Maryland’s last two games, including a 21-point fourth quarter outburst in its Feb. 27 win against Indiana.

Smikle was named to the first team by the media and was a second team member by the coaches.

The junior guard averaged a team-high 17.9 points a game, which was sixth-highest amongst the Big Ten. The offseason transfer from Rutgers scored in double figures in 26 of 29 games played, earning two Big Ten Player of the Week honors in the process.

McDaniel earned her second straight honorable mention selection from the media. The junior guard averaged 10.6 points a game in 17 games played this year as the Terps’ third-highest scorer

The three selections matched last year’s team total, with Sellers and McDaniel as returning recipients. Only USC and UCLA also had multiple first team members selected by the media.
