College Park voters will elect a new District 3 council member in a special election on March 11.
The seat has been vacant since Jan. 8 when former council member Stuart Adams resigned after serving for more than three years. Voter registration for the special election closes Feb. 20.
The candidates for the empty District 3 council member seat are Michael Meadow, a mechanical engineer at the Architect of the Capitol; Raymond Ranker, a pastor and leader of the Lutheran Campus Ministry; and Gannon Sprinkle, a junior government and politics major at the University of Maryland who served as deputy student liaison to the council in the 2023-24 academic year.
