Maryland women’s basketball signed two four-star recruits in the 2025 class, according to a release. Both players are top-100 recruits in the class.

Addi Mack, a guard from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, is the No. 2-ranked player in the state of Minnesota, according to ESPN. Rainey Welson, a guard from Hortonville High School in Greenville, Wisconsin, is the No. 34 player in the country, per ESPN.

“I am grateful to our staff for their hard work in signing these 2 elite guards who will fit in perfectly to our program,” coach Brenda Frese said in the release.

Mack is the nation’s active leading scorer in high school girls’ basketball and the No. 7 all-time scorer in Minnesota girls’ basketball history. She’s tallied 3,661 career points through three seasons as a varsity athlete at Minnehaha, making her the highest point-getter in the history of the school.

Mack has been named to the Minnesota All-State Team four times and was the 2023 East Metro Player of the Year for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. She was also the 2022 Minnesota AAU Player of the Year, according to PrepGirlsHoops.

“Maryland has very high standards and a track record of sustained success, which is compelling to me. I can’t wait to come to College Park next year,” Mack said in the release.

Welson is another elite scorer who will join next year’s roster. She averaged over 23 points a game during her junior year, scoring 653 points with 43 coming in a single game.

She received First Team All State honors for her performances during her sophomore and junior years. The Wisconsin native has won two conference championships at Hortonville in 2021-22 and 2023-24.

“[Welson] is a versatile combo guard that can play multiple positions. Rainey is a scorer that is also a knock down 3-point shooter. She is also a strong guard that can get to the rim anytime [and] has a very high IQ within the game,” Frese said in the release.
