Maryland women’s basketball forwards Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu and Breanna Williams will redshirt the 2024-25 season to preserve eligibility, coach Brenda Frese announced in a Friday news release.

Ozzy-Momodu, a junior transfer, averaged 16.7 points and 11.6 rebounds in 23 games at Gulf Coast State last season. The 2024 NJCAA third team All-American suffered an ACL injury in February.

“Recovering from an ACL injury is a long process,” Ozzy-Momodu said in the release. “I have unbelievable support from my family, my teammates and my coaches here and this is the best decision to get ready for my future here as a Terp.”

Williams, a freshman, boasted two-time Montana Gatorade Player of the Year honors throughout high school. She averaged 25.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3.2 steals as a senior at Skyview High School.

“Four years of a college career go by in the blink of an eye,” Frese said. “We want Breanna to have a long and phenomenal career here and giving her the extra year will really help set her up for that.”

Williams tallied 13 points and 27 minutes in Maryland’s preseason exhibition games.

A stacked 2024-25 Maryland roster holds a wealth of depth in the frontcourt. Nine of its 15 players, including Ozzy-Momodu and Williams, are listed as forwards. In two preseason exhibition games, graduate student Allie Kubek and senior Christina Dalce started in the low post roles, with senior Amari DeBerry contributing off the bench.
