Mail-in voting is underway in Maryland ahead of the Nov. 5 general election.

Maryland voters can choose between voting in person on Election Day, casting their ballots during early voting and voting by mail.

Here’s how to vote by mail this election.

Requesting mail-in ballots

To receive a mail-in ballot by mail or fax, Maryland voters’ requests must arrive by 5 p.m. on Oct. 29. Internet requests for mail-in ballots are due by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 1. Voters can also request a mail-in ballot in person through Election Day.

Returning mail-in ballots

To submit a mail-in ballot, Maryland voters must use the envelope provided by the State Board of Elections and either mail it, drop it in a ballot box or hand-deliver it to their local election board by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 5 and received by 10 a.m. on Nov. 15.
