Maryland football received commitments from twin brothers after its comeback victory over USC on Saturday. The Terps also extended three offers, including one to a junior college prospect.
Meanwhile, men’s basketball lost its second four-star recruit to Michigan State.
Commitments
Asaiah Hamond, 2025, defensive line, Calvert Hall, Towson
Hamond watched the Terps’s win over the Trojans Saturday night and the ensuing field storm. Two days later, he and his twin brother Alijah committed to Maryland.
The senior notched 46 tackles last season with the Cardinals, adding two sacks and a fumble recovery. He’s a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite ranking, and is the No. 38 player in Maryland.
The Terps were the only Power Four school to offer both brothers.
Alijah Hamond, 2025, linebacker, Calvert Hall, Towson
The 247Sports composite ranking has Alijah Hamond as a three-star recruit. Charlotte, Delaware and Kent State also offered him, but he’s only visited Maryland.
The linebacker has recorded 12 tackles in six games to open his senior season, according to MaxPreps. The brothers also play together on Calvert Hall’s basketball team.
The Hamond brothers mark the second straight year the Terps received commitments from twins. Keion and Keyshawn Flowers committed to Maryland in 2023 after playing together at Archbishop Spalding. Keyshawn Flowers has appeared in two games this season while Keion Flowers has played in one.
