Maryland men’s basketball received its first 2025 commit Sunday in three-star forward Marcus Jackson. The news was first reported by Colby Giacubeno of 247Sports.
Jackson is the No. 11 prospect in Arizona and the 150th-ranked prospect in his class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He took an official visit to Maryland over the weekend, InsideMDSports reported.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward is a Baltimore native. Jackson played at John Marshall in Richmond, Virginia, last season before transferring to Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, for his senior year. He averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks playing for Team Thrill in this summer’s UAA finals.
Jackson chose Maryland over a final group of schools that included Auburn, Georgetown, Tennessee and Virginia. Junior forward Tafara Gapare is Maryland’s only forward with eligibility beyond this season, so Jackson could fill an early need for coach Kevin Willard.
Because the terps is home and I feel that I’m going to develop my game and become a better person on and off the court and I’m willing to do that ‼️#goterps🐢❤️
