The University of Maryland designated July 5 an administrative leave day, extending the Independence Day weekend, university president Darryll Pines announced in a campuswide email Wednesday.
The leave will impact all regular and contingent II faculty and staff, and no summer session classes will be held, according to the email. The university will observe Independence Day on July 4.
“We hope that you will enjoy this extension of the holiday weekend and use it to rest and connect with family and friends,” Pines wrote.
University Human Resources and the Division of Academic Affairs will provide further details, the email said.
