Two Maryland men’s lacrosse players earned conference honors for its 13-7 victory over then-No. 11 Princeton on Saturday, per a release. Eric Spanos was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Luke Wierman received Big Ten Specialist of the Week accolades.

Spanos, who earned his first Big Ten Weekly honor, notched career-highs with four goals and five points to lead the Terps’ offense. His two first-quarter goals helped Maryland jump out to a three-goal lead less than 10 minutes in.

Wierman dominated at the faceoff X for Maryland, winning 20 of 23 faceoffs for a career-best 87 percent. He crossed the 20-faceoff threshold for the ninth time in his career. Wierman’s excellence aided the Terps’ offense — the unit ended with 21 more possessions than Princeton.

The conference accolade was the seventh of Wierman’s career and his second of the season. He won Big Ten Specialist of the Week on Feb. 6 after he became Maryland’s program all-time leader in faceoffs wins in its season opener against No. 14 Richmond.
