The University of Maryland’s SGA announced Monday that two parties — Our UMD and Discover Maryland — will be running in the spring 2022 election to serve for the next academic year.
Our UMD’s ticket lists 34 executive and legislative candidates, with junior Chinese and public policy major Josie Urrea running for president.
Discover Maryland lists 41 candidates, with junior operations management and business analytics major Ayelette Halbfinger running for president.
Two students are set to run independently for the presidential position.
Candidates began campaigning Tuesday in anticipation of the election, which will be held online from May 2 to May 4.
