A Prince George’s County police officer struck a male pedestrian about two miles away from campus in Langley Park on Monday night, the department reported in a tweet.

The officer was traveling westbound on University Boulevard when they struck a man at the intersection of 15th Avenue at about 9 p.m., according to the tweet. The man was pronounced dead on the scene and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the most recent tweet.

University Boulevard is closed in both directions between 15th Avenue and Riggs Road, the tweet read.
