The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday in Hyattsville, according to a Monday news release from the department.
The victim of the shooting is 35-year-old Michael Yata Kamara, according to the release. Hyattsville police found Kamara after they responded to sounds of gunshots in the 5300 block of Queens Chapel Road at 1 a.m., the release read.
Kamara had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died several hours later, the release read.
Detectives do not preliminarily believe this was a random shooting and are working to identify a motive and a possible suspect or suspects, according to the news release.
