A man was shot and killed in the area behind the Campus Village Shoppes at about 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, according to a tweet from the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Police discovered the victim at 4800 Berwyn House Road when they arrived on scene. The man was later taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the tweet read.
The University of Maryland Police Department reported an off-campus assault with a weapon at approximately 5:30 p.m., and warned the community to stay away from the scene.
Prince George’s County and University of Maryland police officers arrived on the scene, but believed the suspects had left in a car, according to the university alert.
County police preliminarily do not believe this is a random crime, and are investigating the scene, according to the department’s tweet.
