ImpactUMD, one of the two parties running in the 2020 SGA election, has successfully appealed one of its three campaign violations, election head commissioner Dan Laffin wrote in a text message Friday.
Initially worth a 25 point penalty, the party’s violation for department campaigning on behalf of a ticket has been reduced to 5 points. The appeal results now place ImpactUMD’s point violations at 55 points. A party needs 100 points to be disqualified, according to election rules.
ImpactUMD has also appealed its remaining two violations: early campaigning and campaigning with falsehoods. The appeals process for these violations is still pending, Laffin wrote.
