Several lane and road closures on the University of Maryland’s campus will begin Monday for construction of the Purple Line, according to the Maryland Transit Administration’s website.
The eastbound and westbound right-hand lane on Campus Drive between Adelphi Road and Alumni Drive will close for three months, according to the website. To accommodate utility relocations, crews will also close a section of Presidential Drive between Campus Drive and Championship Lane for nine weeks.
Later this semester, the university’s “M” Circle will be relocated for Purple Line construction. The new “M” Circle will be located across Campus Drive near the Mitchell Building, and the current “M” will not be removed until the new one is complete.
The Purple Line construction is expected to be completed by late 2022. There will be five stations on or around this university’s campus when construction is finished, including one between the Stamp Student Union and Cole Field House.
