There were five reports of motor scooter thefts between Oct. 11 and Nov. 18, according to a UMD Alert.
All five scooters were stolen from parking Lot 11b, next to the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. A video review of area cameras has been submitted.
Police are seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect responsible for three of the thefts, which occurred on Oct. 15, Oct. 11 and Nov. 6.
The suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket with an off-set zipper during the Oct. 15 theft.
Some students are securing scooters improperly, Hoaas said, which makes them an “easy target.”
“They seem to be popular at the moment,” she said. “There are a lot of them on our campus.”
