A heat outage in Tydings and Chincoteague halls began Wednesday, according to an email Tuesday from Katherine Russell, associate dean of the behavioral and social sciences college.

The shutdown, necessitated by underground piping repairs, is expected to last 10 days. Facilities Management chose to start the repairs now because temperatures are warmer, and the 10-day repair period stretches through Thanksgiving break, according to the college’s website.

The website provided additional information for instructors with classes in the affected halls, with alternatives to hold class remotely or relocate to another building.

Several students with classes in Tydings Hall told The Diamondback Wednesday that they did not notice the temperature difference.
