A gas line was struck near a parking lot by the Architecture Building Tuesday afternoon, causing a leak, according to a UMD Alert sent at about 2:30 p.m.
Washington Gas Officials had stopped the leak as of about 4 p.m. according to a UMD Alert, which issued an “All Clear” for the area near parking lot O1.
A front end loader, a machine used for construction, hit the gas line while work was being completed on campus and caused the leak, according to an email from Bernie Tylor, a spokesperson for Washington Gas.
Washington Gas is still completing repairs and will stay on campus until work finishes, Tylor wrote.
