Maryland-National Capital Park Police are investigating a reported off campus shooting Thursday night, according to a UMD alert.
At about 9 p.m., police were notified of a shooting that occurred at the 4300 block of Metzerott Road by a park near the university’s campus. A woman with no affiliation to this university went to a nearby home looking for assistance, with trauma to her upper body, according to the alert.
A light-colored sedan is believed to be involved, the alert read. The Prince George’s County division of the park police are patrolling the area, although they do not know what direction the car went, according to the alert.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to the alert.
When asked for comment, the Prince George’s County division of the park police and Prince George’s County police deferred to each other. University Police spokesperson Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas also deferred to park police for comment.
