A College Park man was arrested Saturday in connection with a reported sexual assault on Fraternity Row from December, according to police.
Anwar Hammed Abdel-Rahman, 43, of College Park, was apprehended in Washington, D.C., by University of District of Columbia Police. He’s charged with second-degree assault, a fourth-degree sex offense and molesting a student on the grounds of an institution of higher education.
Abdel-Rahman will be extradited to Maryland to stand trial, according to a University of Maryland Police release. University Police obtained an arrest warrant for Abdel-Rahman on Wednesday.
At about noon on Dec. 17, police were notified of an incident in front of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house involving a female student.
The student said that a man started walking with her and touched her as she was coming home from the campus. She was able to escape and contacted police.
