What to watch for Maryland: The frontcourt
Maryland’s frontcourt has been one of the best in college basketball. Bruno Fernando and Jalen Smith have anchored the Terps this year, averaging a combined 26.9 points and 17 rebounds per game. The Minnesota frontcourt will be the young duo’s toughest challenge to date. Minnesota’s Jordan Murphy leads the Big Ten in rebounding, and Daniel Oturu has averaged 7.9 boards in limited playing time. Maryland will need Fernando and Smith to step up and outperform the Gophers’ frontcourt.

What to watch for Minnesota: Three-point shooting
Minnesota is not a long-range team. This year the Gophers have put up just 243 three-point attempts this season, the fewest in the Big Ten, and they’ve made just 31.3 percent of them, which is second-to-last in the conference. While they may not rely on three-point shooting to propel their offense, the Gophers struggle when they can’t hit from deep. In Minnesota’s two losses, Boston College and Ohio State, Minnesota was 5-for-30 and 0-for-13 on threes, respectively. With the Terps’ offense very capable of going on scoring runs, the Gophers will have to convert their threes to keep up.
